The motherboard is an essential component inside a computer, because the majority of parts are related to it. And in case something happens to the Acer laptop motherboard, nothing will work. In case the system will not load the operating system or it will not power at all, it might be the time to replace the motherboard. The process of disassembling and replacing the motherboard is not easy at all, because there are a lot of parts you need to remove to get to it and since we are dealing with a laptop computer, the parts are small and the risk of breaking and damaging something is high. This is why you need to be patient and to take a lot of time to get the job done correctly. To replace Acer laptop motherboards you need a screwdriver and a replacement motherboard. You can buy it online, but be sure to order one compatible with your laptop and most importantly, genuine.
First of all, you need to shut down the computer and wait for it to power down. Afterwards, remove all cords, including the power cable and close the lid. Flip the laptop on its back and hold down the battery release latch in order to pull out the battery. It would be a good idea to have all screws and parts inside a container, this way you can be sure you will have them close when it is time to put them all together. Along the four edges of the case there are eight screws. Remove them all and flip the laptop back over and open the lid. Get a flat head screwdriver and slide the end of it underneath the plastic piece below the screen, where the power button is. Wiggle the screwdriver until the plastic piece pops out. Lift it carefully and disconnect the cable that runs from it to the motherboard. Set the entire piece aside after you remove it. At top of the keyboard there are two crews that hold it to the case. Lift up the keyboard so the cable is visible and disconnect it from the motherboard. Put the keyboard aside and remove the screws holding the lid hinges in place and pull them out of the case.
Moreover, find the processor cooling fan and heat sink assembly at the right side of the motherboard. Remove the two screws of the fan and disconnect the cable from the motherboard. Now you can pull the fan and the heat sink assembly off the motherboard. Get a hold on the both sides of the exposed processor and lift it straight up. Remove any of the screws remaining that keep the motherboard in place and carefully lift it out of the case. Grab the replacement part and put it carefully inside the case and re-attach all screws. Put back all parts: the processor, the fan along with the heat sink, keyboard, hinges and finally the plastic bezel. The battery can now be placed inside the Acer laptop and put the latch on again. Turn on the computer and wait for the operating system to load to make sure the motherboard is working correctly.
Some of the parts are very fragile and you have to be very careful with all of them, especially with the pins on the processor. Don’t bend them when you pull the processor out. It is surely a meticulous work and it requires time and attention.
